Popis: | The aim of this paper is to define social and psychological problems faced by unknown parentage in foster families in the Governorate of Muscat. It is a descriptive study using comprehensive survey method for children between 12 and 18 years of unknown parentage in foster families in the Governorate of Muscat. Data was collected using questionnaire, and analysis yielded a number of findings. The most important of which is that problems did not appear largely due to the efforts of families in taking care of children. This is because most of the children do not know about their real social situation as the vast majority of foster families do not communicate this to them. However, there are some problems such as some children inability to cope with others. Accordingly, the study proposes some recommendations based on the findings of this study. This includes a recommendation to raise the level of care provided to children, making use of media and civil society organizations to promote the idea of fostering, and create some kind of cooperation and interaction among governmental organizations to accommodate this category of children. |
