A technique for computer plotting of clinical crown height derived from orthodontic study models

Popis:	The clinical crown heights of 11430 teeth were measured using Vernier calipers on pre-orthodontic study models of individuals aged 7–18 years in order to develop a technique for computer plotting of clinical crown height and to increase the sample size of study model measurements. A gradual increase in clinical crown height with age was observed and confirmed trends in change in the position of the gingival margin in this specific group of individuals. The computer plot technique appears suitable for displaying clinical crown height and, with sufficient measurements of random samples of populations, the technique could be applied to determine normograms for the position of the gingival margin at specific ages.
