Popis: | In a years’ time, we have seen a significant number of a new type of frostbite injury among ‘laughing gas users’. The typical location of the wounds are the inner-thighs, caused by holding a nitrous-oxide tank between the legs. These wounds are very deep and heal problematic, requiring multiple surgeries and resulting in scars with poor quality. There is often a delay in referral and treatment due to unfamiliarity with these wounds and due to changing clinical presentation of the wounds. Raising awareness on the risk and the existence of severe frostbite injuries among laughing gas users may help to prevent and timely treat these injuries, which have a major impact on these young patients’ lives. |
