The main purpose of the article is to study scientific literature on the relationship between the state and religious organizations in the Soviet Union during the 1960s-early 1990s. The current state of development of the state-religious relations problems in the USSR, as well as the Soviet historiography on this issue are analyzed. The author has reviewed the works of post-Soviet scientists and scholars from the United States, in particular, the corpus of scientific literature, which consists of key works of historians, sociologists, religious scholars and legal scholars. Particular attention is paid to the original contribution of each researcher to the topic under study, so, examples of methodological short stories of domestic and foreign scientists are given. It has been found out that the issue of state-church relations in Soviet Ukraine in particular as well as in the USSR, is not only shared by individual researchers but also by scientific schools established in Ukrainian universities. In general, the topic of state-religious relations in the USSR does not lack scientific literature, while the regional peculiarities of the Commissioner of the Council for Religious Affairs activity is a lacuna in modern historiography. |
