Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) is a malignancy accounting for about 5-8% of thyroid cancers. Serum calcitonin and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) levels are widely used to monitor disease progression. However, prognostic factors able to predict outcomes are highly desirable.
