Popis: | The clinical and pathologic features of sixty-four cases of infection of the heart in 3,064 burned patients are reviewed. In the majority of the cases, the heart became involved as part of a generalized septicemia with a portal of entry through either the burn wound or an infected cannulated vein. The mortality was very high; nevertheless, when the source of sepsis could be promptly isolated and treated, survivals did occur. |
