(Acariformes: Syringophilidae) parasitizing the Chestnut-eared BuntingEmberiza fucataPallas, 1776 (Passeriformes: Emberizidae) in Japan is described based on the external morphology and DNA barcode data (mitochondrial cytochromecoxidase subunit I sequences, COI). Females ofT. emberizaesp. nov. differ fromT. volginiSkoracki and Mironov, 2013 by having the short, wide and blunt-ended hypostomal protuberances (vslong, thin and sharp-ended), setaeh1 ca. twice shorter thanf1(vs h1longer thanf1), the fan-like setaep’andp”of legs III–IV provided withca. 10 tines (vs7–8 tines) and lengths of setaevi70–105 (vs55–65),ve105–135 (vs85–90) andh155–60 (vs95–120). |
