Popis: | PROLONGED intubation of the stomach has been implicated as a cause of peptic esophagitis, but the mechanism by which this might take place has not been established. An association between gastroesophageal reflux and peptic esophagitis is recognized, but the effect of intubation on the integrity of the normal barriers to reflux has not been objectively demonstrated. This paper reports a study to determine whether gastroesophageal reflex occurs when there is a Levin tube in the stomach. Method Observations were made on 20 patients who were undergoing radiologic examination of the esophagus and stomach. None of these had evidence of gastroesophageal . . . |
