Popis: | 20α-Hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (20α-SDH) activity, believed to be present exclusively in regressing corpora lutea, was demonstrated in preovulatory follicles of immature rats exposed 52 h previously to pregnant mare serum gonadotropin (PMSG). Production of progesterone from 20α-dihydroprogesterone was proportional to enzyme concentration and time of incubation, and obeyed Michaelis-Menten kinetics. Induction of follicular 20α-SDH activity is not dependent on the LH surge, since the same activity was found in follicles before and after exposure to the first LH surge. |
