The complex is characterized using microanalytical, spectroscopic and other physicochemical results. Structure of 1 is solved by single crystal X-ray diffraction measurements. Structural analysis reveals that the metal center in 1 adopts a distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometry with ZnN4I chromophore. Intermolecular C-H···F hydrogen bonding interactions lead to a 2D sheet structure. 1 shows thermal stability up to 280 °C and displays intraligand 1(π-π*) fluorescence in solid state at room temperature.
