Śivadharma (Śivadharmaśāstra)) and Śivadharmottara are two authoritative texts of the Śivadharma corpus, believed to be composed before the twelfth century A.D. and have a pan-India presence. Manuscripts of this corpus are also found in Nepal and these texts have their influence in South Asian regions. Odisha, being fairly a land of Śaiva tradition, has produced many Śaiva scriptures, viz. Ekāmra Purāṇa, Ekāmracandrikā, Svarṇādri-mahodaya, Kapilasaṃhitā, Śaivacintāmaṇi and Śaivakalpadruma etc. And these texts seem to have been influenced by these Śivadharma texts, especially by Śivadahrma and Śivadharmottara. But to date, no research has been done to trace the Śivadharma and Śivadharmottara in the proper Śaiva scriptures of Odisha. Therefore, an attempt has been made to bring forth the traces of Śivadharma and Śivadharmottara in the aforementioned Śaiva scriptures of Odisha. |
