More than 40 million people have been infected with the SARS-CoV2 virus since the first infection was reported in December 2019 in Wuhan, China. Multiple reports of cutaneous manifestations of the virus have been described, including a pernio-like eruption. Here we report a case of a healthy 16-year-old girl with a classic presentation of perniosis, now colloquially termed “COVID-toes.” The theories behind the pathogenesis of the condition are reviewed, including possible explanations for why most of the patients affected have minimal systemic symptoms and test negative for COVID-19. |
