The Sengupta lab https://www.senguptalab.org uses the roundworm (nematode), C. elegans to study the development and function of the nervous system. We think these animals can be a useful system to teach young students about the nervous system, biology and ecology. During the "Scientists in the classroom" event (https://figshare.com/articles/Scientists_in_the_Classroom/7849184), we arranged a demonstration for the 7th grade science classes at McDevitt middle school in Waltham, Ma hosted by 7th grade science teachers Morgan King and Nathan Johnson. |
