Popis:	This paper presents a study about the construction of meaning in narratives of Reinado, a common religious celebration in the state of Minas Gerais, based on French semiotics. We analyze two narratives that describe the process of abolition of slavery, noting that the texts present a passage of the slaves from a state oppression for the freedom, a change that involves religious and political reasons.
