Popis:	A system for inducing nuclear and cellular division in Salmonella typhimurium by means of temperature shifts has been presented. The work carried out on this system comprises growth studies by means of colony counts, studies on the interaction between cells of synchronized cultures and a temperate phage and cytological studies using selective staining methods. Some implications of our findings for the understanding of the division cycle of Salmonella typhimurium and of the interaction of this organism with phage have been discussed.
