Achieving higher speeds and lower fuel consumption is always one of the most critical intentions in naval engineering. There are various methods to achieve this aim; one of these methods is using a thin layer of air to blow under the bottom part of the ship. In this system, the air is injected with a constant rate and a layer formed between the ship's hull and the water, reducing the marine vehicle's friction resistance. In this study, an air injection system for a 15m single-hull the ship is simulated. Air intakes were carried out through small orifices mounted on the ship's step, creating a stable air covering that reduces a significant portion of the hull wet area. In simulations, the hydrodynamic resistance of the ship hull in different Froude numbers, for both injection and non-injecting mode, has been calculated and compared. |
