Popis: This study examines the values of teachers in public elementary schools in the city of Monterrey Mexico, in relation to job demands. Education is mediated by the state, being handled as a political demand rather than social. The ethical behavior of teachers, has the results of state dependence. Despite the changes because of globalization and neoliberalism, teachers maintained their value-related system, which problematized their employability as successful professionals in the new contexts of quality. The empirical work was conducted through questionnaires about their values to a population of sixty elementary school teachers with over twenty years of service. The analysis of the results is oriented towards the definition of ethics based on the institution, away from the constitution of ethics based on the profession itself. Similarly, changes in the educational organization set changes in ethics from the outside of the professional group. The coexistence of traditional values of social issues is highlighted with the individualistics, introduced by the state in the quality policy.
