The Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO) Initiative ‘86 was an invitational forum conducted in Dallas, Tex., on November 23-25, 1986. The majority of APGO Member Departments sent representatives to discuss the major problems confronting education in obstetrics and gynecology. Ninety faculty members, including 37 chairmen, participated in the discussions. Solutions and recommendations were developed for each of five major issues: 1. What and how should we teach? 2. How should the emphasis in education change? 3. How can we salvage the fourth year as an educational experience? 4. How do we use the changing patient care environment in planning education programs in obstetrics and gynecology? 5. How do we identify, motivate, and teach the teachers? |
