Popis: | We describe a valve used to separate a plasma operated at pressures higher than 5 mbar from a heavy ion beam line. The very fast opening of the valve prevents the ion beam from being perturbed by the neutral gas before entering or after exiting the plasma. Substantial improvements were obtained in heavy ion energy loss measurements compared to a former method using differential pumping. |
