Popis: | CANDIDIASIS generally affects the digestive tract in poultry. However, isolation of Candida albicans, the causal organism, has also been reported from the respiratory-tract (RT) of fowls. Sansonetti (1954) reported the involvement of C. albicans in the inflammation of lungs and bronchi. Vallee et al. (1964) isolated the organism from the nasal exudate of a fowl suffering from coryza. There appears to be no report on the isolation of any member of the genus Candida from the RT of fowls in India. In the present study attempts were made to isolate fungi from the respiratory tract of two fowls, showing nodular lesions, with the following observations. OBSERVATIONS Two White Leghorn fowls, received for the post-mortem examination from the poultry farm, Nagla, showed congestion and granulomatous nodular lesions in their lungs and aerosaccitis.
