Popis: Coronary artery dissection is an infrequent, but potentially fatal, complication of coronary arteriography with an incidence ranging from 0.02 to 0.34%. 1–3 Soft-tipped catheters were developed to reduce this risk. In vitro and in vivo studies have suggested that soft-tipped catheters are less traumatic to the arterial wall than conventional catheters. 4,5 To determine the clinical importance of these findings, the incidence of coronary artery dissection associated with both soft-tipped catheters and conventional catheters was compared in a 10-year retrospective study.
