Popis: WELFARE standards in some livery yards have been of concern to the horse-owning public and animal welfare charities for many years. Defra indicated at the time that it launched the Animal Welfare Bill in July 2004 that it wished to see the licensing of livery yards since there were welfare concerns about some of them. These concerns had been heightened by some prosecutions involving the proprietors of livery yards. A group of welfare charities and other organisations led by the British Equine Veterinary Association launched an internet questionnaire, aimed at anyone with an interest in livery yards, on welfare standards in livery yards, which ran between July 2008 and April 2009. …
