Popis: | Background: The emergence of social networking trends has given a rise to the development of different changes in terms of behavior and individual culture. These forums serve as an open platform for individuals to share and transfer the required knowledge. Objectives: The study aimed to identify the role of social networking sites in the dissemination of excessive consumption of internet culture among university youth. Methods: A descriptive analytical approach was followed. The study was conducted at the University of Ajman in UAE and data were collected through a structured questionnaire from 114 students. Results: Findings indicated that the social networking sites are highly effective in developing a culture of phenotypic consumption among university youth with an overall mean value of 61.52. In relation to the advantages of social networking, 89.5% participants considered it as a source of learning new experiences with an overall mean value of 70.17. Whereas, 72.8% social networking sites poses negative effects in terms of spreading misconceptions and indecent content to a large population. Conclusion: The study concluded that the role of social networking sites plays an effective role in disseminating the culture of phenotyping consumption among university youth. |
