| Popis: | Genus Amphictene Lamarck, 1818 Type species and type locality Amphictene auricoma M��ller, 1776. Denmark; type probably lost or never designated (Holthe 1986). Remarks The genus is characterized according to Hutchings & Peart (2002) by having neurochaetal uncini with major teeth arranged in two rows. However, an examination of BIOICE specimens of A. auricoma suggests that this character could be reassessed (see Discussion below).
