Plant protection products (PPPs) used in agriculture reach the soil and surface waters with different entry paths. Point sources constitute the largest percentage of the rate of 40−95%. The contamination in watersheds by point sources is closely related to the PPPs, total applied area, number of sprayers used in the region and operating conditions. The main point sources are transport, storage, filling, cleaning, and remnant management by PPPs, and are the main subjects in ProtectLife (Prevention of Water Contamination from Point Sources with Plant Protection Products by Improving Extension Specialists’ Vocational Competences), the project that supported European Union’s Erasmus+ programme to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe. In this paper, activities and studies carried out by ProtectLife project team in addition to achievements; especially best management practices for sprayer cleaning after application of PPPs and the ProtectLife mobile application has been disseminatied to all colleagues and public bodies. |
