Popis:	1. 1. A case of massive hydropericardium of obscure etiology and long duration is described. 2. 2. Hydropneumopericardium was induced and characteristic roentgenograms were obtained. 3. 3. The physiologic mechanisms involved are reviewed with particular emphasis on the central and peripheral types of hydropericardium. Isolated and disproportional visceral congestion and edema is explained by the latter type and differentiated from the usual congestive mechanism in decompensated heart failure. The traction upon the wall of the right auricle found at autopsy was an additional mechanical factor heretofore not emphasized.
