V drugem delu naloge smo prek odgovorov treh profesionalnih športnikov dobili vpogled v njihova stališča o vplivih poročanja medijev na njihovo psihološko stanje in športne dosežke. First, media, their functions, effects and power, along with some interesting and high-profile cases of media reporting are presented. In addition, the major distractors and their impact on the athletes' achievements are also described. Furthermore, we present the field of psychology of sport as a scientific discipline, the role of psychology of sport, and a brief overview of the development of the psychology of sport itself. We also describe the psychological profile of the athlete and the main characteristics of the athlete's personality from self-esteem, self-confidence, sports identity, and motivation in sport. We also describe the key concepts of the athlete's psychological profile and illustrate how different athletes are dealing with them. In the second part of the thesis, we gained an insight into the athletes’ views on the impact of media reporting on their psychological state and on sporting achievements. By analyzing the answers of three professional athletes we found that media reporting affects the athlete's welfare and psychological state. As regards the interviewed athletes’ responses, the media most often reported on their appearances at important competitions and appearances for the national team. The obtained data also show that athletes are rather receptive to media reporting and that this can affect their self-esteem, feeling and mood, but is not not directly linked to their achievements and performance. We also found that media coverage has a more positive than a negative impact on the athletes, even if reporting is negative. The surveyed athletes follow media coverage, but not on purpose and much less after completing their sports career.
