Popis: | The theory for the simultaneous release of a mixture of two noninteracting drugs dispersed in an inert plastic matrix has been developed. Quantitative relationships based on a physical model were derived that express the diffusion-controlled rates of release of both drugs as functions of the amounts of each drug, the solubilities of the drugs, their diffusional coefficients, and the porosities and tortuosities of the tablet. The theoretical relationships were applied to the salicylic acid-benzoic acid-plastic mixture. The experimental data were found to be in close agreement with the theoretically calculated values. |
