Padang coastal waters are an overfishing area and abundant fish supply and become a fishing area for traditional fishers on Padang Beach, specifical fishermen in Purus and Muaro. The aims of this study are to described and analyzed the factors that cause poverty of conventional anglers, specifically labor fishermen in the Padang Beach area, Padang Barat sub-district, Padang City. The study used a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The main informant is the Padang coastal area fishermen (Puruih and Muaro) and the additional informant is the fisherman's wife. Data collection methods used are the method of observation and interviews, analysis by reduction of the conclusion or verification. The poverty caused in labor fishing communities caused by low education, the role of economic institutions, fishing habits, alternative jobs, capital ownership, and the technology used. As well as the purpose of the study to find out the strategies of fishing fishers to be able to survive and meet their daily needs. |
