This contribution describes the dismissal on economic grounds in the Netherlands after the changes introduced by the Dutch Work and Security Act (Wet Werk en Zekerheid, WWZ) in 2015. The aim of the reform was to make Dutch dismissal law less complex, fairer and less expensive for employers. Since the reform, a dismissal under Dutch law requires one of the grounds exclusively listed in art. 7:669 (3) Civil code (Burgerlijk wetboek, BW).
