Popis: The possible role of bats as reservoirs of disease transmissible to man makes an understanding of the composition of their parasite fauna highly desirable. A recent trip to some small caves in western Maryland afforded the opportunity of collecting parasites from the big brown bat, Eptesicus fuscus (Beauvois), which was hibernating in the caves at that time. We take this opportunity to present our findings, and gratefully acknowledge the assistance of our congenial companion, Mr E. Corristan, who directed us to the caves and aided in the collection of the hosts. The collection data for all the parasites is as follows: Caves on Roundtop Mt, approximately 2 km SW of Hancock. Maryland; 20 Jan. 1964 ex Eptesicus fuscus (Beauvois); C. Mitchell, J. Hitchcock &E. Corristan. Approximately 10 bats were examined, some in the field and some in the laboratory, and the parasite collections were pooled without consideration for the number of parasites per host.
