Popis: | The mirrors of interferometric GW detectors are generally suspended to seismic isolators. The reduction of horizontal vibrations is provided by pendular suspensions while the vertical one is provided by springs. The possibility to extend the detection bandwidth in low frequency has been extensively investigated during last years, and several passive and active isolation systems have been studied. The use of multi-stage suspensions is one of the most promising solutions. The performance of such a system can be improved by changing the masses of the single stages of the suspension chain. We provide an analytical solution which gives the optimum seismic attenuator configuration when the total length and mass of the system are fixed. |
