Popis: | Three cases of infective endocarditis occurring in patients with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy are described. One of these patients died as a result of a ruptured mycotic aneurysm. An analysis of the current literature with particular reference to the site, the precipitating causes, and the type of infecting organism in this condition is presented. It appears that the site of predilection of the infection may be the mitral valve. The commonest recognized organism remains Strepto coccus viridans. The need for vigilance and adequate prophy lactic precautions is stressed. |
