Popis: | The transformation of science and research in the Czech Republic is entering its seventh year. The changes have led to fewer personnel being involved in research and the introduction of research as part of the responsibility of universities instead of them being purely teaching institutes. Many of the staff of the research institutions have created firms to conduct their own research. A new phase of transformation is now starting which involves: changing the inner structure of research to keep pace with the rest of the world; creating new links between academic research and education and the practical application of results; bringing to the fore relationships among the public and the state; and shaping an efficient science policy.
