Popis: | Isoelectric focusing can be used to purify rabbit IgM immunoglobulins. In this study, it has been applied to hemolytic IgM antibody, obtained from pooled sera of immunized rabbits by recycling chromatography on Sephadex G-200. The IgM molecules show a range of apparent isoelectric points from 4.7 to 5.6, with a peak of hemolytic activity at pI = 5.2. The hemolytic and hemagglutinating activities do not coincide; the ratio of hemolytic to hemagglutinating activities increases 3-fold from the low to the high end of the isoelectric distribution. |
