Popis: Through sponsorship and support from the Victorian Transport Accident Commission (TAC), the Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC) with leading local and international partners established the Enhanced Crash Investigation Study (ECIS). The ECIS program was designed to provide insight into how serious injury crashes occur, and then, using this information, identify measures that would be effective in preventing occupants of vehicles being seriously injured in the event of a crash. This report, the third in the ECIS Report series, examines the point(s) in the crash sequence where the influence of each contributing factor is exerted. This report aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the incidence of individual contributing factors in events leading up to, during, and after serious injury crashes. The findings reported here underpin the analysis of safety countermeasures, which is the subject of ECIS Report 4.
