Popis: A versatile, automated analytical system for quantitating proteins, peptides, and nucleic acid derivatives has been described by Anderson (1). In this system, absorbance at one or two wavelengths is continuously monitored and recorded. The two wavelengths in Anderson's dual-beam monitoring system are positioned by an air piston driven mechanical device which may offer some disadvantages. For example, wavelength selection is limited to the stroke length of the air piston, and air lines with pressure gages and regulators are required. Also, the time spent in assembly and disassembly of the modification to the spectrophotometer is lengthy. In the present report, an inexpensive electronic wavelength selector is described which, while performing the same function, eliminates these drawbacks in the Anderson system.
