Popis: | SummaryMale and female New Zealand white rabbits were fed ground Purina rabbit pellets containing 1% cholesterol for 14 weeks. A significant increase in the total phosphatidyl choline-P, percentage of total lipid-P, total sphingomyelin-P, and percentage of lipid-P occurred in the aorta of the animals fed cholesterol. The total phosphatidyl cholines of the aorta were fractionated into four fractions by thin-layer chromatography on silica gel H impregnated with silver nitrate. A significant increase occurred in all the phosphatidyl choline fractions of the aorta from the animals fed cholesterol. A greater increase occurred in fractions 1-2 and 3. |
