In most of the broadband wired and wireless communication systems the highly emerging multiplexing technique used is Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) because it avoids inter symbol interference, which occurs due to dispersive channel. Being a multicarrier system it has gained very large popularity in the present scenario. Because of its large popularity it is widely used for multimedia communication systems. It is much better than single carrier modulation system because of its high data rate transmission capability, robustness against losses in radio channel, large spectral efficiency. Besides these advantages, it suffers from large value of peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR), errors due to timing and frequency synchronization and co – channel interference(CCI). This paper presents a comparative study for different OFDM techniques with the subsequent presentation in various sections which comprises section II which includes OFDM transmitter and receiver, with section III literature review in continuation with section IV a parallel comparative study of OFDM techniques which is detailed in section V and finally concludes section VI. |
