Popis: | Three different dose schedules have been tested in bleomycin treatment of a methylcholantrene induced dermoid carcinoma transplanted intramuscularly in mice. The reduction of tumour growth was used as a criteria for the therapeutic effect. 1. Schedule 1 : Daily injection for 8 days. 2. Schedule 2 : Injection twice a week for 3 weeks. 3. Schedule 3 : Cyclic treatment, i.e. 6 injections/ 48 hr/week in 3 weeks. Schedules 1 and 2 gave identical results concerning therapeutic effect and toxicity. Dose schedule 3 gave a slight reduction of the therapeutic effect and a marked reduction of the toxicity as compared to schedule 1 and 2 . The result is a better therapeutic index for cyclic treatment. |
