Popis: Congenital tuberculosis is a rare disease with a high mortality. 1-7 Fewer than 200 cases have been reported in the world literature; less than 100 in the United States. 2 The incidence is not known. A patient who was successfully treated is described. Report of a Case .—The patient was a 3-kg product of a full-term pregnancy. During the first trimester, the mother suffered an illness consisting of fever, cough, and right-sided chest pain. Her condition was diagnosed as being pleurisy and bronchitis. The remainder of the pregnancy and the immediate postnatal period were uneventful. At 3 weeks of age, the baby was transferred to the Children's Hospital from an outlying hospital where he had been treated for five days for fever, cough, and anorexia. The baby was lethargic.
