Popis: Plant growth regulators, whether synthetic or natural, have found large and wide applications in increasing crop production or, when applied in small amounts, bring about rapid changes in plant phenotypes and also affect plant growth from seed germination to senescence by either enhancing or stimulating the natural growth regulatory system. They are known to affect vegetative growth, sex ratio, fruit set, fruit retention, yield and quality of horticultural crops. Their exogenous application contributes to the improvement of various economically important and commercially attractive properties of ornamental plants. The application of plant growth regulators leads to better performance by improving the internal physiology of the developing fruit, improving fruit set, reducing fruit drop and correcting various physiological disorders to improve quality and yield. In this review, we have discussed the effect of different plant growth regulators on fruit set, retention, quality and yield. KEYWORDS: Plant growth regulators, Sex ratio, Fruit set, Yield, Quality
