Finding the appropriate values of parametersand structure of type-2 fuzzy logic systems is a difficult andcomplex task. Many types of meta-heuristic algorithmshave been used to find the complex structure and appropriateparameter values of the type-2 fuzzy systems andmore recently hybrid meta-heuristic algorithms. In thispaper, we review recent advances (2012 to date) on theapplication of meta-heuristic algorithms and hybrid metaheuristicalgorithms, for the optimization of type-2 fuzzylogic systems in intelligent control. It was found that themajor meta-heuristic algorithms used for optimizing thedesign of type-2 fuzzy logic systems in intelligent controlwere genetic algorithms and particle swarm optimization aswell as hybrid meta-heuristic algorithms. Researchers canuse this review as a starting point for further advancementas well as an exploration of other meta-heuristic algorithmsthat have received little or no attention from researchers. |
