The construction of a culture of peace in the mentality of people refers to the ways in which a more peaceful life is thought, felt and planned, both with oneself and in society. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to interpret the beliefs and ideas in which the inmates of a prison in Lima mentalize a culture of peace. The study was developed under the qualitative approach of narrative design that consists of inquiring about the beliefs, thoughts, experiences, and memories from the very voices of a group of 30 inmates. The data collection instrument was a semi-structured interview guide, in which the participants reported possible ways to build a culture of peace where the main beneficiaries are all citizens living in a more just and equitable society. The results suggest that the inmates present different perspectives for the construction of a culture of peace, in it, education, values, the media, the state, politics, which are essential elements. It is concluded, therefore, that despite being clear and aware of the ways of living in society, they commit a crime for which they must be deprived of liberty. |
