Popis: Ichan Kala (Itchan Kala, Ичан-Кала, Ichan Qal'a) in Khiva (город Хива, Xiva) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Khorezm region, Uzbekistan, inscribed in 1990. This dataset contains a digital informational guidebook in English and Russian, in two verions (full-size and compressed), each comprising of 23 pages in PDF format. The informational guidebook aims to enhance the visitor experience at Ichan Kala by allowing self-guided visitor flow through the site and acts as an alternative to guided tours. This work contextualises the site of Ichan Kala in the wider landscape of Khorezm and highlights the historical development of the area with specific attention to locally popular narratives. The work has been accomplished by UCL graduates working closely with Dr Gai Jorayev UCL; the Smithsonian Institution, with special recognition given to James Deutsch; the Central Asian Archaeological Landscapes (CAAL) project and communication with colleagues from Khorezm, Uzbekistan.
