Popis: | The orientations of [Co(C5D5)2] + ions intercalated in the xerogel V2O5· 1.6H2O have been studied using solid-state 2H NMR spectroscopy. The cobaltocenium ions in microcrystalline samples of V 2O5{Co(C5D5)2} 0.2(H2O)0.5 are observed to be held rigidly in the lattice at all temperatures up to 450 K. Studies on oriented thin films of this intercalation compound have shown that the guest ions are arranged with their principal C5-molecular axes oriented parallel to the V 2O5 layers. A small angular deviation in the orientations of the [Co(C5D5)2]+ cations from the parallel direction is observed; this is thought to arise from stacking faults within the host lattice. |
