InCites and SciVal are two popular tools for bibliometric analysis which require no data collection or transformation by the user to produce metric and benchmarking reports. However, the range of metrics instantly available and complex data settings to choose from can result in even expert users feeling confusion or encountering misleading results. The responsible use guides aim to bridge this gap. Produced independently from the commercial owners by a group of authors from the UK LIS Bibliometrics practitioner community, they have been downloaded over 1,000 times since publication in January 2020. The poster describes the content and structure of the guides, as well as providing links to read them. |
