| Popis: | The archaeological research of Porto da Mina shell-mound (PA-SA-5), located in the coastline of the state of Para, was recently resumed through the methodological approach proposed by the Strategic Archaeology, aiming to comprehend aspects associated to the formation of the archaeological record. The first author reviewed the collection formed by Mario Simoes in the 1960/70 and obtained new data with the study of the profile section of one of the areas excavated and with the analysis of zooarchaeological column of the shell-mound. The analysis of ceramics from the two research projects highlights the lack of whole vessels and the small size of the fragments. These features are significant in order to consider the hypothesis that the ceramic containers were used in several routine activities and later its fragments reused as constructive material, for consolidation of the shell-mound. |
