Interaction is the key driving force behind the critical processes involved in collaborative learning. But novice learners find it difficult to effectively interact during collaborative tasks and need support. Speech data from collaborative discourse can be significantly used to monitor and assess the interaction among students. My research group is planning to develop a system for capturing speech data from collaborative discourse in real-time, and derive various verbal and non-verbal features from speech data to automatically detect and assess the collaboration quality. Also we are planning to design and implement the real-time automated feedback based on the data captured and investigate the impact of the feedback provided. |
