Large scale applications require the integration of logical and physical resources (i.e. systems) to be mainly operated by non programmers. In many cases this integration is obtained by gathering in a computer network the different systems which are part of the application itself. The Reference Model of Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) provides a common basis for the coordination of standards developments for the systems interconnection. APL can be profitably used as end-user interface language to access the services provided by a distributed application implemented following the OSI Reference Model. |
